The month of September – The Ontario Association of Food Banks is calling September – Hunger Action Month. They are inviting Ontarians to help address hunger through four key actions: educate, advocate, volunteer and donate. As an active Food bank that relies on the OAFB for support, we are trying to highlight the ways in which people can #feedthechange. To learn more go to :

September 8 – We’ve been invited to participate in the Queenie’s Bake Shop IT Party on September 8th from 11-3. We will have our van there to collect non-perishable food items from the crowd. This event features a BBQ, live music, entertainment – all so that they can give away tickets to the new IT movie being screened privately at the Capitol Theatre on September 11.

September 18-22 – Hunger Awareness Week. This week long Food Banks of Canada campaign aims to change the statistics on hunger by making people more aware of what is happening in their own community and how they have the power to change it. We can all work together to make a difference for those in need.

September 18- 22 – RBC Cobourg Branch is holding a non-perishable food drive at their 66 King St West Location. They will also be holding a bake sale during this week. Pick up some yummy treats for a good cause!

September 22 – RBC Fundraising BBQ in Port Hope 11-2, 1 Jane St. Port Hope.

September 23 – Mom 2 Mom Consignment Sale at the Cobourg Community Centre 9-1. $3 admission or $2 with a non-perishable food item.

September 27 – Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank Open House & BBQ for the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce from 4-5:30 pm. BBQ & tour of facility will be open to Chamber members. September 28 – Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank Open House & BBQ for the Port Hope Chamber of Commerce from 12-1:30pm. BBQ & tour of the facility. September is Hunger Action month and Fareshare are working to create awareness in the business community about the needs of the local Food Bank. Everyone is welcome, there is no fee to attend but donation of a non-perishable food item is requested.
